15 Août

15 Août
A fantastic afternoon in Tours. Within the space of two hours, I entertained a ticket agent at the train station with my brilliant Française (and succeeded in acquiring a ticket for tomorrow's train to Paris), listened to the bells of Cathédrale Saint-Gatien calling the flock to mass as the evening light illuminated her twin spires, attended (along with many other visitors) that very same mass, took in a free art exhibit in an ancient hotel (and it was very good: there was a hanging installation of lace sillouettes that seemed alive, dancing in the faint drafts), and am currently sitting in the trés chic McDo using the WiFi gratuit. Oh, and a didgeridoo eching through an abby in the old town accompanied this curious tourist the length of Rue de Commerce. Never a dull moment!
